Need Child CPR Training in Orlando?
It’s a Part of Our BLS Certification Class
We do not offer a child-only CPR class. Our AHA BLS CPR Certification is a complete hands-on certifying course that covers child CPR technique as part of a broader curriculum. Along with child CPR, the course addresses adult and infant CPR, AED use, and choking relief for all age groups. If that coverage works for your situation, AHA BLS may be worth a closer look. If you specifically need a course built around child CPR alone, we recommend seeking a program designed for that purpose.

Every Adult in a Child’s Life Is a Potential First Responder
Child CPR is a required hands-on part of the AHA BLS class and is practiced under the guidance of a certified AHA instructor before your card is issued. CPR Certification Orlando is an Official American Heart Association Training Site serving the community since 2015, and our BLS class includes child CPR within a broader course that also covers adult CPR, infant CPR, AED use, and choking relief. In real life, the first person responding to a child emergency is usually a parent, teacher, coach, or caregiver, which is why good hands-on training matters.
What the AHA BLS Course Covers Regarding Child CPR
Child CPR Skills You Practice
A child’s cardiac emergency looks and feels different from an adult’s. The AHA BLS course includes child CPR skills as part of its broader hands-on training. Hands-on practice on child manikins is included as part of the class. You practice chest compressions scaled to a child’s physiology, rescue breaths appropriate for a child’s lung capacity, and AED operation including pediatric pad placement.
Child Choking Relief and AED Response
Child choking relief is also covered, including back blows and abdominal thrusts for a responsive child and the transition to CPR if the child becomes unresponsive. A certified AHA instructor provides real-time feedback throughout and your child CPR skills are assessed before your certification card is issued.
AHA BLS is not a course focused exclusively on child CPR. It covers CPR for adults, children, and infants, AED operation, and choking relief for all age groups. The full class runs approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. If you need a course focused only on child CPR, a dedicated child CPR class may be a better fit.
Who Typically Takes Orlando AHA BLS CPR Certification
AHA BLS draws a wide range of participants across Orlando. The following groups commonly enroll when child CPR coverage is their primary motivation.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
Parents throughout Orlando neighborhoods including Baldwin Park, Celebration, Windermere, and College Park regularly pursue AHA BLS certification as their children become more active in sports and community programs. AHA BLS covers child CPR as part of a complete curriculum, not as a standalone child-only class.
TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF
Orange County Public Schools employs thousands of teachers, aides, and support staff across the region. AHA BLS certification is commonly held by school personnel who want to be prepared for a classroom or campus emergency. If your school district requires a course covering child CPR exclusively, confirm those requirements before enrolling.
YOUTH SPORTS COACHES AND RECREATION STAFF
Orlando youth sports leagues, soccer programs, baseball associations, and recreation centers throughout Orange County regularly send coaches and staff to AHA BLS certification. A child collapsing on a field or court is rare but not unheard of, and trained coaches change outcomes. This is not a child-only class. It is a full AHA certifying course covering all age groups.
CHILDCARE WORKERS AND DAYCARE STAFF
Florida childcare licensing requires current CPR certification for directors and staff in licensed facilities. AHA BLS satisfies that requirement and covers child, infant, and adult CPR in a single certifying class. If your licensing board requires a course focused exclusively on child CPR, confirm their specific requirements before enrolling.
CAMP COUNSELORS AND YOUTH PROGRAM STAFF
Orlando area summer camps, after-school programs, and youth organizations regularly require CPR certification for staff working directly with children. AHA BLS is a credential many programs recognize. If your organization specifically requires child-only CPR training, confirm their requirements before enrolling.
BABYSITTERS AND NANNIES
Anyone regularly caring for children benefits from knowing correct child CPR technique. Many Orlando families require current CPR certification before hire. AHA BLS covers child CPR technique as part of its complete curriculum. If a family specifically requires child-only training, confirm their requirements before enrolling.
